About Thiery: In my first yoga classes at the Foundation of Truth in the 70's, I was struck by the profound sense of well being brought on by yoga practice. It was also at the Foundation where I had my introduction to energy healing through a simple White Light technique. So began my journey and exploration into wholistic alternative healing approaches.
In the 80's, I took a few Pierce Program yoga classes, including a prenatal class where I learned a yogic breathing technique that gave me the ability to relax into the labor pain and delivery of natural childbirth, for which I am most grateful. One son born, one on the way, I entered the New Seminary, an inclusive interfaith seminary in New York City, whose vision spawned the Association of Interfaith Ministers, its mission and motto being "Honoring All Paths".
In the spring of '87, I was ordained by seven spiritual representatives of major religions, including a Rabbi, a Swami, and a Reverend, Sun Bear was the featured speaker. My purpose as a minister in counseling, ritual and ceremony, has been to support and celebrate spiritual connection and growth where it has meaning for the individual outside of traditional boundaries. My yoga practice fell dormant for a time as I continued my experiences with alternative healing methods for the benefit of some close family members as well as for myself.
I recieved my Reiki I attunement in 2001. In 2002, I took Reiki II and began practice as a Reiki practitioner, currently ongoing. In 2005, I recieved Reiki III and have been teaching since. I came back to my (somewhat sporatic) yoga practice in 1998. In January of 2004, I began Triyoga classes at Jai Shanti Yoga. I continue my Triyoga practice and attend Triyoga intensives in nearby states.
I've taken many other yoga classes, plus a year of Tai Chi, at Jai Shanti in my 3 3/4 years here, from talented teachers of the Kripalu, Classical and Kundalini traditions, which also supports a now consistent and solid home practice. I've had occasional classes at Atlanta area studios, such as Structural yoga at Kashi, and ongoing Yamuna Body Rolling workshops at Decatur Hot Yoga.
My next aspiration for yoga is to complete a yoga teacher training. I feel richly blessed to benefit from the wisdom of many and desire to pass it along through teaching and learning in the ongoing practices of yoga, Reiki and ministry.
