Since my childhood I’ve had a fascination and a connection with energy flow, body movement, and body mechanics. As a young girl, I was a student of classical ballet and modern dance, and danced professionally through my high school years. In my early adulthood, I spent several years studying Chinese martial arts. After suffering a severe knee injury, a physician recommended that I do something else like yoga until I recovered. Little did I know that yoga would change my life forever. In 2000, I first discovered the gift of yoga. I couldn’t believe how good I felt during and after my practice. I felt like I had discovered some hidden treasure, not realizing that it was something that was accessible within me all along. I noticed over time that my practice was actually changing the essence of my very being. Late in 2005, a tragic loss in my life occurred that completely broke my spirit. For the first time I experienced pain and suffering to a degree I never had felt before in my body and soul. I followed my instincts and spent a lot of time on my yoga mat as a place to help me get through what was happening. I noticed my practice created a pathway to an opening from the inside of myself, and could feel the healing effects from the yoga. This inspired me so much that I felt that I should give it back to the world. |
In 2006, I completed a 200-hour residential teacher training program at Barsana Dham Ashram in Austin, Texas. I continue my studies through training with great teachers whom I admire and respect from all different traditions of yoga. I feel that all of the different styles of yoga have something important to offer us. I spend much of my time learning about yoga traditions and yoga-related philosophies through reading books, attending workshops, and interacting with amazing gifted people. I am currently studying the Pranakriya tradition, and am working toward my 500-hour teacher training with my beloved teacher, Yoganand Michael Carroll. Yoganand has taught me many things in yoga tradition and philosophy. Most importantly, he has helped me see that I am my greatest teacher by learning from experiences through becoming a witness of the subtle energy of life force. My desire is to help people experience healing and well-being by discovering their own inner teacher, which will guide them towards Truth.
